Kerrison has authored more than 50 academic papers and major ophthalmology textbooks, including Walsh and Hoyt’s Clinical Neuro-Ophthalmology 6th Edition, Macular Surgery, 1st Edition (1999) & 2nd Edition (2011) and Age-Related Macular Degeneration 2nd Edition. His National Institutes of Health sponsored research has been aimed at developing new therapies for retinal ganglion cell regeneration. Kerrison has been a productive member of the academic community at Johns Hopkins, holding assistant professor appointments in the Ophthalmology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery departments. Throughout his academic medical career, Dr. He then returned to the staff at Johns Hopkins for three years before joining Retina Consultants in private practice. He was the Assistant Chief of Service at the Wilmer Eye Institute and served on active duty in the United States Air Force, stationed at Andrews AFB and Lackland AFB. He completed fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology at Emory as well as fellowship training in retina and vitreous at Retina Consultants of Charleston. After graduating valedictorian from Emory University School of Medicine, he received his ophthalmic training at Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Wilmer Eye Institute.
